Words from the Heart

A poem I wrote about 3 years ago that I just found out I won an award for, and had it published in a book of poetry! Thank God for a brighter future!

Stubborn Love
A whispered sigh, a light caress
Words that mean so much
Fall on my ears, fill my heart
Like the breeze of a single touch

A date that's late, a promise broke
Words that mean so little
Weigh me down, crush my heart
And our love becomes a riddle

A broken marriage, precious babes
Lives torn apart by self
One desires to mend it alone
The other destroyed by wealth

Now here we are, many years gone
And time has never failed to cease
I stand here alone, but ever the wiser
And you sit empty, unaware of true peace
